With LIQUM, it has been possible to stop, for example, a lead hazard detected in a groundwater area before it caused a poisoning situation. The situation began in Eastern Finland, when deviations in the oxygen levels of raw water from a water utility’s well were observed. Real-time monitoring revealed that lead had started to leach from the soil into the groundwater. The well was immediately taken out of service, thus preventing lead from entering drinking water and the beverage industry.
Lead is a highly toxic metal for humans, which, when accumulated in the body, can cause serious nervous system, circulatory, and kidney damage, and increase the risk of kidney cancer. LIQUM's system made it possible to detect the situation in time and prevent a serious health and environmental risk.
